DBT Skills groups integrated with Music Therapy
Learn DBT skills for mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Includes DBT skills handouts and assignments, discussions in a safe confidential group environment, and experiential exercises to support you in meeting your personal goals. To reinforce the skills that are being learned, to practice the skills, and to generalize the skills into life, group activities can also include listening to music, lyric analysis, song-writing, movement, playing instruments, singing, drumming, relaxing to music, guided imagery , and other creative experiences . The combination of strategies available could look like this: Using imagery you'll connect with your inner wisdom and nurturing inner resources. Sprinkle in some coping skills (DBT Skills), and reinforce what you gained, with some relevant creative activity such as song writing or drawing.
